The New Works Ensemble is based on the premise that all the historic and cultural contributions of the past are the paths to creating new creative music in the future, and that all music disciplines have much to contribute. This ensemble explores expression in music through composition and improvisation, with an emphasis on exploring multiple approaches to the creative process. This can include anything and everything - formal composition; improvisation on chord structures; guided improvisation and spontaneous arrangement (conduction); and “free” improvisation.
