As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, Seattle JazzED is committed to taking the necessary steps to reduce risks to students and staff while we transition back into in-person instruction.
We will continue to minimize the spread of COVID-19 by acting responsibly and following local, state, national and industry guidelines to conduct activities safely within our working and teaching spaces.
***Please continue to check this page as we continue to update our policies to reflect state and national guidelines.***
Health and Safety Protocols
VACCINATION AND MASKS
All staff (administration, teachers, coaches, and temporary personnel) hired by JazzED, and eligible students aged 5 and older must present proof of vaccination for the COVID-19 virus to participate in JazzED programming.
The following are acceptable as forms of vaccination proof:
Copy or photo image of a vaccine card - must have all required information and signatures
Documentation from a health care provider
State immunization information system record
Masks are optional for students, staff, and teachers during program times within JazzED classrooms. JazzED will have disposable masks available in all classrooms. Bell covers for wind instruments are optional but encouraged (i.e. saxophone, trumpet, flute, etc.). Parents and students can purchase a musician’s mask and bell cover though Amazon, Hickey’s, or a local music store such as Kennelly Keys and Ted Brown Music.
PHYSICAL DISTANCING
Students should maintain at least 3 feet of distance between each other. Teachers should maintain at least three feet of distance between students to the extent possible or reasonable for instructional purposes.
AIRFLOW IMPROVEMENTS
The JazzED classroom will be equipped with a 1000sq.ft. air purifier that will be operating continuously for optimum sanitization of the air. To assist in fresh air circulation, classroom windows will remain open during class times (weather permitting) and fans will also be operating.
CLASSROOM AND OFFICE SANITIZATION
Classrooms will be cleaned and sanitized each day through the combined effort of all students, teachers, and staff. All cleaning and disinfecting supplies will be provided by JazzED.
RESPONSE TO COVID-19 CASES
Students who have come into close contact of someone with COVID-19 will need to get tested at least 5 days after exposure and provide a negative COVID-19 test result prior to returning to class.
Close contact includes anyone in one or more of the following categories:
Been within 6ft of a person with COVID-19 for a combined total of 15 minutes or more within a 24-hour period.
Lived in the same house as someone with COVID-19.
Cared for someone with COVID-19.
If there is a positive COVID-19 case within one of our classes, all families with students in the same classroom will be notified. JazzED will work with Public Health - Seattle and King County to manage contact tracing – identifying and informing all individuals that came into close contact with the person diagnosed with COVID-19, and to provide next steps.
These COVID-19 requirements and guidelines have been created to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for all students, teachers, and staff. Let’s all do our part to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
