Our all-inclusive assembly program honors the legacy of jazz as a Black American art form.

Thank you so much again for coming out to Hazelwood today! You truly provided an amazing and unique live music experience for our scholars. I’ve been getting so much positive feedback about what a great assembly it was. I hope we can have you back again soon!
— Kerry, Renton School District

ASSEMBLY MATERIAL

  • Students learn that jazz is an American art form originating in the African-American communities of New Orleans in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

  • We bring a live band of 4-5 musicians.

  • Assembly is interactive and lots of fun!

  • Assembly is 45 minutes.

  • JazzED provides all of the assembly equipment and materials.

  • Rising 4th, 5th and 6th graders go home with invite to our Summer Jazz Prep Camp for beginners where they can learn to play an instrument. Any family can choose the easy and free tuition option.

COST
Seattle JazzED is committed to equity and inclusion, and strives to focus resources on under-served communities. We offer our assembly performances free of charge to Title 1 schools. Otherwise, we charge a fee of $600, which goes toward compensating the assembly musicians. If the $600 fee is a hardship for your school, please contact education director kelly@seattlejazzed.org to discuss a sliding-scale fee. We appreciate your participation in this vibrant and fun event. Thank you!

SCHEDULE
Our next free assembly tour will run during February 2020. We can be flexible on time slot but spots fill quickly so add your name to tour list. Click HERE for current calendar of assemblies.

GRADE GUIDELINES
We recommend one assembly for the entire school. But we can try to work with your schedule and needs.
