We just opened up a NEW morning session.

Kickstart your summer. Learn to play an instrument at JazzED!

At the Summer Jazz Prep camp you will pick your instrument, begin reading music and learn to play songs in a beginning band.

Every student gets

  • a free JazzED t-shirt
  • an instrument to use at camp and borrow as long as they are in a JazzED program.

Summer Jazz Prep students are automatically eligible to play in the Intro Prep Ensemble in the fall.

Eligibility: Open to students entering 4th, 5th and 6th grade in the fall. No prior experience required.

Instruments: Pick from Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, or Bass.

Cost: There is NO COST for this camp or the use of a JazzED instrument.

Location: Camp is at JazzED in the MLK FAME Community Center (3201 E Republican St, Seattle 98112).

Two Sessions:

  • AFTERNOON SESSION - Registration is full.
Monday June 26 through Friday, June 30. 1-5pm each day (except Monday which is 2-5pm).
Note: If you have school on 6/26, just come to camp as soon as you can after school ends.
  • MORNING SESSION - Now enrolling!
Tuesday, June 27th through Friday, June 30th, 8am-1pm each day.

Before you start camp...

  • Mark your schedule for the required Meet Your Instrument Open House on Sunday, March 26 at noon. Attendance at this event is mandatory to ensure that every student starts day one of our camp with an instrument in his or her hand (plus there's going to be pizza!) If you can’t attend, please contact our Education Director, Kelly Barr Clingan (kelly@seattlejazzed.org), immediately to set up an alternative meeting time.

If you have questions, please contact us! You can email kelly@seattlejazzed.org or call 206-324-JAZZ (5299).
