Have you dabbled in church music, piano lessons, or drumming?  Do you love to sing? In a Jazz Prep Ensemble you will learn how to play an instrument or sing, perform, read music and set yourself up for a life of musical success.

Jazz Prep Ensemble classes begin the week of October 1, 2018 and run through Thursday, May 16, 2019. 

There are no classes Oct 31, Nov 12, Nov 19-23, Jan 21, Jan 30, Feb 18-22, March 21, April 8-12.

Final performance is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center. 
You can learn to play the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, upright bass, guitar, piano, drums OR vocals in the Jazz Prep Ensembles. Different ensembles rehearse at different times. 

Mondays and Wednesdays. 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM

  • Choir Prep Ensemble (vocal) with Cora Jackson and Sherrell Mitchell
  • Piano Prep Ensemble (piano) with Darrius Willrich

Mondays and Thursdays, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

  • String Prep Ensemble (upright bass and guitar) with Kelsey Mines
  • Percussion Prep Ensemble (drums) with Tony Sodano

 Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM

  • Brass Prep Ensemble (trumpet and trombone) with Ricardo Luna
  • Woodwind Prep Ensemble (flute, clarinet and saxophone) with Dan Wickham

On the registration check-out page, you can enter one of the codes below to set up the tuition amount that works for you. Be sure to select the mothly payment plan option if you want to break your payments up. If you want to pay your balance all at once, you can do that as well.

Students can play an instrument they already own or rent, but please check with our Education Director Kelly Clingan before you register to ensure that it's part of our curriculum. Seattle JazzED can loan instruments free of charge to students who need assistance. To inquire, email kelly@seattlejazzed.org.
