Beginners and advanced players welcome
Every youth jam session is curated by a professional musician and begins with a 45-minute jam session basics class, leading into the jam session.
Open to students in grades 6-12; you don't have to be registered in a JazzED program to come. You're welcome to bring friends who are completely new to JazzED.

Whether you're learning how to solo or working on advanced techniques, our jam sessions are designed give you the opportunity to play jazz standards and work on your improvisation.
NEW TO JAM SESSIONS?
Be sure to arrive at 6:30 PM. You'll get the guidance and tools you need to succeed in the first 45 minutes. The guest artist will pick from the list of tunes below to teach jam session basics like improvisation and how to approach a chord progression when playing a solo. Learn the melodies and the chord progressions for each tune (included on the sheet music). Each song is in one of the following keys: Bb, F, C.
ALREADY FAMILIAR WITH JAM SESSIONS?
More advanced students can come at 7:15 PM prepared with songs and concepts that they would like to try out in a live setting.
Grades 6-12. Instrumentalists and vocalists welcome.
