JAZZ PREP ENSEMBLES FOR BEGINNERS
Have you dabbled in church music, piano lessons, or drumming?  Do you love to sing? In a Jazz Prep Ensemble you will learn how to play an instrument or sing, perform, read music and set yourself up for a life of musical success.  You choose from flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, upright bass, guitar, drums, piano or vocals. Tuition is sliding scale, free instrument loans available. Beginners, grades 4-8.

ALL-STAR COMBOS
Hone your theory and improvisation in a combo! You'll rehearse twice a month with your own dedicated coach. We highly recommend combo play to fully develop your skills and creative voice. Grades 7-12. Opportunities for MOST instruments. Sliding scale tuition and payment plans. High-schoolers who meet basic requirements can be added to our professional combo gig pool. GIRLS JAZZ DAY
Sunday, September 29, 2019: One awesome day. 100% dedicated to girls who are dedicated to music. You’ll make friends, connect with awesome female role models, and come away inspired to keep improving and developing your musical voice and ideas. Become more confident when taking a solo. You'll learn the basics and then build on them in a supportive atmosphere. Improv takes courage, but the process doesn't have to be mysterious or scary - and we’ll help you! COLLEGE SUMMIT + AUDITION WORKSHOP
Meet with reps from local, regional and national music schools. Ace your college music audition! Learn how to set yourself apart from the competition, prepare for recorded and live auditions, and select the school that's right for you. This one-day event includes the college audition workshop and designated times to visit each college or university’s table and representatives to make contacts and gather information. Sign up HERE. The Audition Workshop portion of the event will demystify the college audition experience for you!

BIG BAND ENSEMBLES
Play and perform in a jazz ensemble with acclaimed teachers like Clarence Acox, Darin Faul, Mark Taylor, Kelly Clingan and more. Rehearse weekly January - May 2019. Tuition is sliding scale. Grades 5-12, with at least one year experience.

NEW WORKS ENSEMBLE
The high level, award-winning New Works Ensemble organizes high school students into a group that explores the boundaries of jazz and welcomes instrumentation not traditionally part of jazz performance. Grades 9-12. More info HERE.

JAZZED YOUTH ORCHESTRA
Open to all instruments (Viola, bassoon, French horn, etc.) Explore multi-genre and new compositions with director Wayne Horvitz. Rehearse weekly January - May, 2019. Tuition is sliding scale. Grades 6-12.

JAZZED DRUMLINE PROJECT
You’ll be a part of building a groove-based, second line style, funky drumline directed by Tony Sodano (assistant director of the Seahawks Blue Thunder Drumline). Rehearse Wednesdays, January - May. Tuition is sliding scale. Grades 7-12.

NINA SIMONE VOCAL ENSEMBLE
Explore the crossroads of America’s roots music by learning jazz through a gospel lense. (It's not just for girls; boys welcome!) Rehearse Saturdays, January - May. Tuition is sliding scale. Grades 7-12.

GIRLS ELLINGTON PROJECT
Directed by Kelly Clingan, The Girls Ellington Project is Seattle’s all-girls, all-city jazz band. The band submits an audition recording to the Essentially Ellington Festival with the goal of being a finalist and participating in the festival in New York City in May. Our commitment to women in jazz is stronger than ever. This ensemble is open to female (and female-identified) high school jazz instrumentalists in grades 9 through 12. Placement is by audition.
